NENA Skincare: Our 2019 Highlight Reel
The end of the year is the best time to reflect on everything you’ve accomplished over the past 12 months and relive some of your favourite milestones and memories. NENA Skincare wins four beauty awards
In February 2019, we won four awards in the Pure Beauty Global Awards and the Beauty Shortlist Awards on three of our NENA Skincare products: the NENA Clay Mask, the NENA Cream Cleanser, and the NENA Mineral Toner. Here’s what Fiona Klonarides, Founder and Judge at the Beauty Shortlist Awards had to say about NENA’s Clay Mask: “A pure, perfectly balancing clay mask packed with over 60 natural minerals that calms, firms, hydrates, detoxifies and clears up blackheads instantly — and a new Beauty Shortlist Awards winner too. Extra points for being cruelty-free and EWG certified.” Winning these awards provided us with the validation that we were indeed onto something with glacial clay as a skincare ingredient, and that our products can stand out in a busy beauty industry.
NENA Skincare kicks-off the EWG roadshow in Seattle
Being Environmental Working Group verified means our NENA products are vouched for by a third-party organization to not contain ingredients of concern. In April, we joined EWG in person in Seattle and Portland to kick-off their US roadshow.

NENA is unboxed by Kim Kardashian
In May, our friends at the Environmental Working Group sent #BeautyMadeBetter gift boxes which included the NENA Clay Mask to celebrities and beauty bloggers including Kim Kardashian, Steph Shepherd and Lauren ScruggsThe campaign aimed at bringing awareness to promoting tighter regulations on harmful ingredients in the personal care industry. NENA was unboxed by Kim Kardashian and a photo of our NENA Clay Mask was shared on her Instagram Stories.
NENA launches a boxed Skincare Kit
Recognizing that our glacial clay products are best used in a skincare routine, we compiled our skincare products into an easy to use 4-step skincare kit. Not only have customers been buying these for themselves, but it also makes a fantastic gift set.

NENA pops up at Vancouver’s Khatsahlano Festival
In July, we participated in our first block party pop-up, sharing NENA Skincare samples at the Khatsalano Festival in Vancouver. We received some great feedback on our products, answered questions about glacial clay, as well as heard about the skin concerns of the people we met. Soon after, we also participated at car-free day on Main Street.
NENA launches at Whole Foods in Ontario and Choices Markets in British Columbia
In August, NENA launched at Whole Foods in Eastern Canada at 8 locations in Ontario. It’s an honor for us to be part of such a well-known retailer in the health and wellness space. For our Westcoast fans, we launched a few months later in December at Choices Market in BC.
NENA attends CHFA East in Toronto
In September, the NENA team packed our bags and flew to Toronto to participate in CHFA East, Canada’s largest industry trade show dedicated to natural health. We were there for two days alongside 1,000 other innovative natural health businesses. A shout out to some of the other businesses we spent time and connected with including FreeYumm Foods (allergen friendly treats) and Amoda Tea (superfood tea mixes)!

NENA selects our first charity partner
Shop for a cause and feel good about what you buy. In November, we partnered on our first charity initiative with the BC Women’s Health Foundation for its "Holiday Wishlist" campaign. Until the end of the year, we’ll be donating 10% of our online sales to this female-focused charity that’s dedicated to advancing the full spectrum of women’s health.
