Celebrating Motherhood: NENA Staff Share Their Mother’s Day Memories

Moms, they’re pretty incredible. They spend our early days feeding us, driving us all around town, cleaning up after us, all the while instilling life lessons that we don’t even become aware of until we’re older, and sometimes moms ourselves.

As we celebrate mothers this month, we sat down with two of our staff members from NENA Skincare to hear their perspectives on motherhood and what it’s meant for them.

Alice - Business Development Director

Alice's KidsAlice works with major skincare and beauty brands around the world, educating them on the benefits of glacial clay so that they can include them in their own product offerings.

Q: How many kids do you have?

A: Two adult children.

Q: How did your relationship with your own mom form your relationship with your children?

A: You’ll find that the typical Asian family in my generation don’t show much emotion towards one another. It’s through being a mom myself and raising my own children that I connected more with my mom and opened up the emotions and positive affections that I hadn’t yet explored. So I’d actually say it’s the relationship I have with my children that helped form the relationship I now have with my mom.

Q: What did your mom teach you that you're now teaching your children?

A: Respect is a big thing in our family. My mom taught me how to respect elders and treat others how you want to be treated. This was something I wanted to instill in my kids when they were growing up. Both my kids are now adults and I believe that their respect for others is what’s helped them develop a positive attitude towards life and I hope it continues to bring them success in the future.

Venus – Research and Development

Venus, a NENA mom, with her family
Venus researches ingredients and formulations to create effective skincare for NENA and other skincare brands who use Canadian glacial clay in their products. She’s one of the reasons we have so many amazing product offerings!

Q: When did you know you wanted to be a mother?

A: I grew up in a huge family so I always knew I wanted to have a family of my own one day. Thankfully that became a reality when my first daughter was born almost six years ago.

Q: What is your favourite part about being a mother?

A: Being a mom is the most difficult and challenging job in the world, but it's also the most rewarding. My favourite part has to be watching my children grow and develop into their own selves. Their smiles and giggles, and even cries make memorable moments. I just truly love spending time with them.

Q: How do you manage work-life balance as a mother?

A: My husband is a big help when it comes to managing my career life as well as my life as a mom and wife.

Q: What did your mom teach you that you're now teaching your children?

A: My mom taught me to have more patience, to be loving, caring and always be happy. I really think this is why spending time with my family is when I’m the happiest and where I find the most reward in life.
