Spring Skin: How To Transition Your Skin from Drying Winters
Sure, you’re ready to put away the sweaters and bring out the spring dresses. But is your skin just as prepared?
Winter skin is dry and needs a lot more moisture help, but as the temperature warms and our skin retains more water, our skincare routine will need a little adjustment to tailor it to the coming season.
Tip 1: Spring Clean Your Skin
Winter meant months of drier, flakier skin, and in order to prep for that summer glow, it’s a good idea to exfoliate all the dead layers away. You can do this with either a physical exfoliant, like a gentle scrub or a soft-bristled device or with a chemical exfoliant, like glycolic acid.
If you’re new to exfoliating, take it slow and start off with only once a week to allow your skin time to adjust.
Tip 2: Choose Your Cleanser Wisely
If you have a cleanser that’s your tried and true, there’s no real need to switch it up. And if you’ve been using a heavy cream cleanser for the colder months, your skin might appreciate a lighter, more gel-like formula as the weather warms up.
Our Cleansing Cream helps with the removal of environmental pollutants, makeup and dead skin cells to reveal a fresh, glowing appearance. Enriched with natural botanical extracts and minerals from Glacial Oceanic Clay, this cleanser will leave your skin soft and fresh.
Tip 3: Infuse Your Skin with Antioxidants
If you don’t have a serum in your skincare lineup, now is a good time to introduce it. Instead of a heavier oil-based serum, like you’d use in the winter months, search for a lighter water-based product. Bonus if it has hydrating elements like hyaluronic acid and antioxidants like Vitamin C.
Our new award-winning and silicone-free Mineral Serum is perfect for your spring and summer skin. Combining the nourishing effects of Glacial Mineral Water, Hyaluronic Acid, and Vitamin C and E, this fast-absorbing Mineral Serum is specially formulated to give your skin deep, lasting hydration, helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles to reveal more youthful and radiant-looking skin.
Tip 4: Swap Out That Heavy Moisturizer
There’s more humidity in the air in the springtime than in the winter, and our skin holds onto that moisture throughout the day. For this reason, switching up your moisturizer is probably one of the easiest and best ways to transition your skin from winter to spring.
Your winter moisturizer is probably a heavier cream that takes longer to blend in, while your spring moisturizer can be a light-weight cream or even a hydrating gel formula, keeping your skin moisturized while letting it breathe a bit more.
Tip 5: SPF Always
Yes, even in winter you should be wearing SPF. UV rays can not only cause things like skin cancer, but it’s also the number one skin damager, from wrinkles to dark spots and hyperpigmentation.
While you can get away with a light SPF 15 cream or SPF in your makeup in the winter, you’ll need something stronger as the sun comes out more regularly. Opt for a minimum SPF of 30, and 50 is even better, and make this the last step in your daytime routine.

With the sun out for longer, these simple adjustments to your routine can do wonders for your skin. As much as we are so ready to enjoy sunshiny spring, our skin needs that extra boost to adapt.
